Ruth Gutiérrez Delgado Photo

Prf. Gutiérrez Delgado is Phd in Communication Studies by the School of Communication at the University of Navarre, Spain. She teaches Epistemology of Communication and Screenwriting for TV Series at the Audiovisual Communication Degree and also teaches two courses at the Master of Screenwriting and in the Master in Communication Research about Poetics and Visual Representation.

Her main research is on Poetics, Myth and Hero in audio-visual texts and also the study of the cognitive nature of fiction. These topics are the core of her Research Team MYHE (Mythmaking and Hero in narratives and media texts) in which she is the main researcher. Her doctoral dissertation was about Heroism in John Ford’s Filmography. Among her publications, she collaborated in books with a chapter about the German film Die Brücke in Personaje, acción e identidad en cine y literatura, Frago, M., (ed.), EUNSA, Pamplona, 2006; “En el corazón del cine”, in Vivir el amor. En torno a la encíclica Deus Caritas est, Pellitero, R., (ed.), Rialp, Madrid, 2007; “La falacia dramática y representación de la familia en la ficción televisiva”, in Series de televisión: el caso de Médico de familia, Cuéntame cómo pasó y Los Serrano (Ediciones Internacionales Universitarias, 2008); “Dramatic fallacy and the representation of family in television fiction”, in Creating, producing and selling TV shows. The case of the most popular dramedies in Spain, Medina, M. (editor), Colección Media XXI, Formal Press, Lisboa, 2009; She study the myth of Quixote in East Europe and published a chapter on it in El telón rasgado, 2015. She also took part in CEMID, a Research Team whose interests are Emotions and Identity in Culture, in the Culture and Society Institute.She has coordinated Poéticas de la persona. Creación, responsabilidad y vigencia en la Comunicación Pública y la Cultura, 2013.

She was Subdirector of the Master of Screenwriting for two courses and from 2014-15 she is the Vice Dean for Students at the School of Communication at the University of Navarre, where she coordinates an Innovation Research Project too.

Prf. Gutiérrez Delgado has been Visiting Scholar at University of St. Andrews, Scotland. She also was Visiting Researcher at University of Glasgow, Scotland and in British Film Institute, London. She has been teacher in the Erasmus Program for The School of Social and Media Culture of Torun (Poland). And also has been Visiting Fellow at University College of Cork, Ireland and Universität Bremen (Germany).
